Next Friday night, March 7, the monthly spoken word event Poetry for Thought will be held at IFP Minnesota (2446 University Ave W, St Paul). In addition to spoken word performances and lively discussion, this month’s event will feature a handful of JuiceMedia-produced video poems with the youth filmmakers in attendance. Snacks and socializing from 7 pm to 7:30 pm followed by the screenings and performances. The event concludes by 9:30 pm. “Parents Suck” is one of the video poems being featured at the event. She has acted in multiple plays and short films. She was captain of Iowa City’s all-female group improv troupe called Janice. She served on the editorial board of two literary magazines and has had multiple poems and non-fiction pieces published in various literary journals.• Oli loves to travel, play with her new puppy, and she can’t wait to start getting creative with young filmmakers!! 🎬Meet our new JuiceMedia supervisor and FilmNorth Youth Programs Manager! • Emily studied Film, Video, Animation, and New Genres and received her BFA and MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts and taught English for a year in Spain. • She is most passionate about sharing her talents for digital and media arts with all ages while collaborating with local artists to build a strong and vibrant community. • Emily has made several experimental short videos, documentaries, and animations, which have showcased at film festivals and galleries worldwide, including The Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival, The Milwaukee Film Festival, Minneapolis Underground Film Festival, The Grim Natwick Animation Film Festival, and Altered Esthetics Film Festival. • When she’s not making videos, Emily enjoys exploring the Twin Cities by foot, going to concerts, and attending various art shows at local galleries!
